Everyone with a Community Services Card: You will be welcome to Warm Up Ōaki's professional advice. You will also eligible for free curtains. Homeowners with a Community Services Card: We can: assess your home heating situation for free advise you on changes you can easily make help you get any support you may be eligible for, including 90% off insulation 80% off a heat pump potentially do minor repairs (plugging gaps, fixing window seals etc.).

She is a Home Performance Adviser and has many years experience in building, construction and starting up community organisations. Each year more than 60 Ōtaki families get free ‘up-cycled’’ fitted and lined curtains for their main living and sleeping areas. To apply for yours in 2026, please: pick up a form from Citizens Advice Bureau (65a Main St.) or Energise Ōtaki (7 Main St.). then drop your completed form to Citizens Advice Bureau (65a Main St., Ōtaki). Here is a guide for how to measure your windows for curtains. Energise Ōtaki organises getting your curtains in partnership with the Sustainability Trust in Wellington. First you will get confirmation of whether to expect curtains. Then, when your curtains are ready, you will be contacted to arrange their drop off, and if you would like it, help with their installation.

Thank you! We welcome: clean (no mould) curtains fabric tracks and hooks. Please drop these at Unit 4, 31–33 Riverbank Rd, Ōtaki. No-one there? You can leave the curtains at the door. Please text (or phone) 021 877 142 to let us know. Unfortunately, we can’t take: blinds curtain rods or curved tracks.

Yes. A healthy home keeps its people not too hot, not too cold; it’s useful in Ōtaki summertimes too. There is always another winter!
