On December 1st, Ōtaki Repair Café volunteers fixed 111 items. Including a beloved bear called Teddy.
Electronics were the most popular items for repair this time: 35 appliances were saved from the scrap heap. Some young volunteers even started learning from the masters - see below!
Now that we're heading into the holidays (for many of us), let's look back at the year that was. Here's the Ōtaki Repair Café 2024 tally.
Volunteers:
welcomed 272 visitors bringing in items for fixing
and another 57 who just came for the atmosphere
fixed 463 items (averaging 85% success)
over 763 donated hours
thereby diverting 1081kg of waste from landfill
and effectively saving 7744kg (almost 8 tonnes!) of CO2 emissions.
How amazing. Thank you, everyone.
